Overview
Chopta tungnath trek tuis a rock face above Tungnath temple. Tungnath Temple is the highest placed temple among all the temples in the Garhwal Himalayas. From Temple till Chandrasheela, It is a short but rigorous hike. The Chandrasheela Summit affords the most beautiful view of the Nandadevi, Trishul, Kedarpeak and Chaukhamba peaks. If the sky is clear you feel that you are sitting in a sea of mountains. Tungnath trek one of the Kedar among Panch Kedar and it is holy place for Hindu religion.
Details Itinerary
Day 01 DELHI - RISHIKESH (230 km / 6 hour)
pick up from delhi to Rishikesh via Haridwar. Rishikesh is known as 'Gateway to Himalayas' and center of Yoga & Meditation.Upon arrival check in at hotel. In the afternoon visit various Ashrams and Temples. Enjoy the 'Ganga Aarti' in the evening. Overnight stay in hotel. RISHIKESH: Situated at the foothills of Garhwal himalayas, Rishikesh is a gateway to the important religious places of Badrinath, Gangotri, Kedernath and Yamunotri. Also it is home to many Ashrams. Ashrams are centres for spritual studies, meditition, Yoga, sacred prayers besides being residential centres for the resident gurus.
Day 02 RISHIKESH - CHOPTA (160 km /5 hour)
Morning after breakfast drive to Chopta which is one of the most beautiful spot in this part of the Himalaya passing through lush green landscapes strecheing almost 40 kms.Apart of humans it is also inhabitate by rare Himalayan species like the Snow Leapord,Musk Deer,Snow Fox,Monal etc.Put up camp on arrival and relax in the evening.
Overnight stay in camp.
Day 03 CHOPTA - TUNGNATH - CHANDRASHILA 6.5 km trekk- CHOPTA
Morning after breakfast start early trek to the temple of Tungnath and Chandrashila. Tungnath is one of the highest Shiva temples in Garhwal. Further proceed to Chandrashilla peak.The summit of the Chandrashilla peak provides a breathtaking 360 degree view of Himalayan Peaks. Return trek to Chopta for over night stay.
Day 04 chopta- rishikesh (160 km /5 hour )
Rishikesh,En route visit to confluence of River Alaknanda and Mandakini at Rudraprayag. Up on arrival check in to the hotel for overnight stay in rishikesh.

Best time to visit Chopta Tungnath Trek
- The best time to visit the Chopta Tungnath Trek is April to November. The weather is generally pleasant during this period, and the trekking conditions are favourable. April to June offer a moderate climate, with clear skies and warm weather. These months are the best time for trekking and exploring the region's natural beauty.
From September to december ther is mild and pleasant, and the views of the Himalayan peaks are spectacular. The autumn season is also the time for the annual Tungnath temple festival, which the locals celebrate enthusiastically.
How To Reach Chandrashila Trek
By air: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest airport to Chopta. It takes around 6.5 hours to cover the 211 km distance from the airport to Sari Village near Chopta by road in a private vehicle.
By rail: Haridwar is the nearest railhead which is well connected with major Indian cities. Taxi and local bus options are available from Haridwar to Sari Village – the base camp for Chandrashila Trek.
By road: Private buses, government buses, and taxis all the way from Haridwar to Chopta. 200 km in a little less than 8 hours.
